# First burials give insights into mortuary rites at Göbeklitepe, Early Neolithic Türkiye

Julia Gresky, Lee Clare, 2026. _PLOS ONE_.

The first two intact burials from the site, Pre-Pottery Neolithic B, mid-9th millennium BC. Taphonomic analysis suggests the scattered human bone in the enclosure fills came in part from burials displaced by settlement deposits sliding downslope.
