# Day-night differences in Mars methane suggest nighttime containment at Gale crater

Christopher R. Webster, Paul R. Mahaffy, Jorge Pla-Garcia et al., 2021. _Astronomy & Astrophysics 650, A166_.

Two daytime TLS measurements average 0.05 ± 0.22 ppbv against 0.52 ± 0.10 ppbv at night in the same season, supporting night-time containment and daytime dilution; reports a spike of 20.5 ± 4 ppbv in June 2019 and argues that widespread seepage would need fast destruction or sequestration.
