# "Uncertain as to in what position lay the Peninsula of Florida": The Official Record and the Loss of Flight 19

Michael Wright, Joseph Ryan, 2017. _Pieces of History, US National Archives blog, 16 October 2017_.

Archivists at the National Archives at Fort Worth summarise the Navy's investigation records of Flight 19: five Avengers with 14 men, Navigation Problem No. 1 from Fort Lauderdale, departure 2:10 pm, Taylor's radio messages, the last transmission at 7:04 pm, the loss of a rescue aircraft with 13 men, and the Navy's findings of navigational error and, for the rescue aircraft, a faulty fuel system.
