# New light on the personal identification of a skeleton of a member of Sir John Franklin's last expedition to the Arctic, 1845

S. Mays, A. Ogden, J. Montgomery et al., 2011. _Journal of Archaeological Science 38(7): 1571-1582_.

The first modern scientific study of the skeleton recovered in 1869 and buried under the Franklin memorial at Greenwich as Lieutenant Henry Le Vesconte of Erebus. Osteology and isotope geochemistry show an adult European male and re-evaluate the 19th-century identification.
