# A Tunguska sized airburst destroyed Tall el-Hammam a Middle Bronze Age city in the Jordan Valley near the Dead Sea (retracted)

Ted E. Bunch, Malcolm A. LeCompte, A. Victor Adedeji et al., 2021. _Scientific Reports 11, 18632_.

Claimed that a cosmic airburst destroyed Tall el-Hammam about 3,600 years ago, using many of the same proxies and some of the same authors as the Younger Dryas work. Corrected in 2022 and 2023 and retracted on 24 April 2025 (Retraction Note doi:10.1038/s41598-025-99265-5).
