# Artificial intelligence based writer identification generates new evidence for the unknown scribes of the Dead Sea Scrolls exemplified by the Great Isaiah Scroll (1QIsaa)

Mladen Popović, Maruf A. Dhali, Lambert Schomaker, 2021. _PLOS One 16(4), e0249769_.

Uses binarisation, feature extraction and dimensionality reduction on the columns of the Great Isaiah Scroll and finds a break between the first and second halves, consistent with two scribes writing very similar hands.
