# Hominin skeletal part abundances and claims of deliberate disposal of corpses in the Middle Pleistocene

Charles P. Egeland, Manuel Domínguez-Rodrigo, Travis Rayne Pickering et al., 2018. _Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences 115(18): 4601-4606_.

Compares skeletal-part profiles of the Dinaledi and Sima de los Huesos assemblages with known modern samples of primate carcasses that decayed in different settings. Finds the Dinaledi profile closest to bodies that decomposed in the open or in caves, not to buried bodies, and so does not single out deliberate disposal.
