# Ancient proteins identify various Denisovan remains from Southwest China

Huiyun Rao, Song Xing, Qijun Ruan et al., 2026. _Nature_.

Screening of more than 60,000 bone fragments from Bianfu Cave, Yunnan, finds two parietal fragments and a proximal radius from layers of about 167-134 ka; with two teeth, all five hominin specimens are Denisovan by proteomics. The richest Denisovan site outside Denisova Cave and the first Denisovan radius. PRIDE PXD073112.
