# An instructive inter-laboratory comparison: The 1988 radiocarbon dating of the Shroud of Turin

Bryan Walsh, Larry Schwalbe, 2020. _Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports 29: 102015_.

Re-runs the statistics cited in the 1989 report. The Shroud data are heterogeneous while the three controls are not; proposes two causes, a roughly linear dependence of the dates on sample position (a variation in isotopic composition) or differences in the laboratories' cleaning, and suggests experiments to tell them apart.
