# The 22 September 1979 Event

Director of Central Intelligence, 1979. _National Security Archive Electronic Briefing Book 190, Document 3_.

A December 1979 intelligence assessment, requested by the NSC, which assumes the event was a nuclear detonation and examines an accident, a covert Soviet test, and above all three possibilities: a secret test by South Africa, by Israel, or by both together.
