# Sculpting the Sphinx

Samuel Boury, Scott Weady, Leif Ristroph, 2023. _Physical Review Fluids 8, 110503 (Gallery of Fluid Motion)_.

Water-tunnel experiments in which bentonite mounds with a hard inclusion erode into lion-like forms with head, neck, back and paws, offered as a qualitative analogue for a natural yardang origin. The authors state the results do not resolve the Sphinx question.
