# 1I/'Oumuamua as an N2 Ice Fragment of an Exo-Pluto Surface II: Generation of N2 Ice Fragments and the Origin of 'Oumuamua

Steven J. Desch, Alan P. Jackson, 2021. _Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets_.

Argues that impacts on Pluto-like bodies during a dynamical instability would eject about 10^14 fragments, half of them nitrogen ice, at rates consistent with seeing one 'Oumuamua; estimates ejection 0.4-0.5 billion years ago from a young system. JGR Planets 126, e2020JE006807.
