# Inside the Russian Short Wave Radio Enigma

Peter Savodnik, 2011. _Wired, 27 September 2011_.

A long feature from a visit to Povarovo, north-west of Moscow, where the station was said to have transmitted from a military compound now nearly abandoned. Describes the 2010 disruptions, the new MDZhB call sign of 7 September 2010, the station's apparent move toward Pskov, Ary Boender's view that it is military, and a former European official's (JM) view that it sends coded orders to units inside Russia, with a 20 kW main transmitter, 5 kW backup and horizontal dipole antenna.
