# Reply to: No evidence of phosphine in the atmosphere of Venus from independent analyses

Jane S. Greaves, Anita M. S. Richards, William Bains et al., 2021. _Nature Astronomy 5(7), 636–639_.

The team's reply and first re-analysis of re-processed ALMA data. Phosphine is recovered at about 5 sigma, with local abundances peaking at about 5–10 ppb and a planet average of about 1–4 ppb, below the earlier 7+ ppb; the authors argue the JCMT line cannot be sulphur dioxide and that the two telescopes agree if phosphine varies over time.
