# A Comparison of Wood Density between Classical Cremonese and Modern Violins

Berend C. Stoel, Terry M. Borman, 2008. _PLoS ONE 3, e2554_.

CT densitometry of five classical Cremonese and eight modern violins. No difference in median density, but the density difference between early and late growth rings is smaller in the Cremonese tops (183 vs 274 g/l) and backs (115 vs 128 g/l).
