[Eteocretan and Eteocypriot](https://mysteriesdept.com/mysteries/eteocretan-eteocypriot)[2 events][34.7122° N, 33.1414° E]

Amathus is an ancient city in the record of Eteocretan and Eteocypriot, placed to about 1 km.

Two events on the site happened here, between 0311 and 1914: Amathus sets up a statue of Ariston son of Aristonax with an Eteocypriot and Greek inscription, and later Ernst Sittig publishes the Amathus bilingual, found in a Limassol antique shop.

The kingdom ended with the deposition of Androkles about 312 BC; the bilingual is dated shortly after.
