# Do the Hessdalen lights include a natural phenomenon not yet explained, once known light sources are removed?

**Most likely: no; the lights are misidentified vehicles, aircraft, astronomical objects and instrumental artefacts** Ahead on the evidence, not yet confirmed. It needs two reviews to be accepted.

## Where it stands

Four answers have been proposed. No; the lights are misidentified vehicles, aircraft, astronomical objects and instrumental artefacts. leads, with evidence 2 for, 1 against: partly supported by its tests. Three are still possible. Of the two narrower questions under it, one is answered.

## Why it matters

Every mechanism depends on there being something to explain. Some recorded lights have been shown to be car headlights[[1]](https://mysteriesdept.com/sources/SRC0D0NDAY87S08/eine-widerlegung-des-embla-2002-berichts-zur-optischen), while the 1984 radar and magnetometer records and the residents' close-range reports are harder to account for[[2]](https://mysteriesdept.com/sources/SRC0D0NDAEM2WKB/a-long-term-scientific-survey-of-the-hessdalen-phenomenon).
