## Where it stands

Three answers have been proposed. None is ahead on the evidence yet. Three are still possible.

## Why it matters

The tablet Bo 2023/12, found at Hattusa in 2023, carries a Hittite ritual frame around a recitation introduced with a reference to Kalašma; its editors identify the language as Anatolian and Luwic but distinct from Luwian, and give a provisional reading of the recitation as an offering to a storm god[[1]](https://mysteriesdept.com/sources/SRC0DEDKC20ZP70/eine-neue-sprache-im-hethiterreich-der-fund-der-kalasma)[[2]](https://mysteriesdept.com/sources/SRC0DEDKNR46FZV/new-indo-european-language-discovered-press-release). The reading rests on one broken tablet and on comparison with Luwian, and the editors call it preliminary[[1]](https://mysteriesdept.com/sources/SRC0DEDKC20ZP70/eine-neue-sprache-im-hethiterreich-der-fund-der-kalasma).
