Plato's date for Atlantis, about 11,600 years ago, lies inside the African Humid Period of about 14,800 to 5,500 years ago recorded off Mauritania, and the dated alluvium in the Richat's outer ring spans 15,000 to 7,730 BP: there was running water in the structure around the time Plato names.
