## Where it stands

Five answers have been proposed. None is ahead on the evidence yet. Five are still possible. Of the one narrower question under it, none is answered yet.

## Why it matters

Etruscan's numerals, pronouns and case endings match nothing in Indo-European, and the only languages that share its specific morphology are Raetic in the Alps and Lemnian in the Aegean, grouped with it as Tyrsenian by Rix in 1998[[1]](https://mysteriesdept.com/sources/SRC0DEDM0ZD5R16/etruscan)[[2]](https://mysteriesdept.com/sources/SRC0DEDMRTJYSBZ/ratisch-und-etruskisch). Every attempt to attach it to a wider family, from Hebrew and Albanian to Hungarian, has rested on word matches that fail when tested on the grammar[[3]](https://mysteriesdept.com/sources/SRC0DEDM0VDSX35/the-etruscan-language-an-introduction-revised-edition)[[4]](https://mysteriesdept.com/sources/SRC0DEDKQRT230M/zikh-rasna-a-manual-of-the-etruscan-language-and).

Compile the Etruscan-Raetic-Lemnian morphological correspondences from Rix 1998, Schumacher 2004 and Eichner 2012 into a table, then test them against a null model: count how often equally specific matches arise between Etruscan and unrelated languages of similar phonology (e.g. Basque, Hurrian, Sumerian) using the same matching rules.

From the Larth Etruscan.csv (DAT0DEDXR3X5TB5), build a word-final suffix frequency table for Etruscan (-s, -l, -si, -le, -ce, -che, -a) by text type and date, as the baseline any proposed relative's morphology must be compared against.
