A life-size bronze model of a sheep's liver, 12.6 by 7.6 cm, found by a ploughman at Settima di Gossolengo near Piacenza in 1877 and dated to the late second or early first century BC. Its upper surface is divided into an outer ring of 16 regions and inner compartments, each inscribed with an abbreviated divine name, about 40 in all; it is read as a diviner's teaching model mapping gods to regions of the sky and anchors most of what is known of the Etruscan pantheon.
