About 200 engraved seals of stone, bone and metal, mostly three- and four-sided prisms, carry the bulk of the script's sign groups; the earliest, from the Archanes-Phourni cemetery of the late Prepalatial period, bear the recurring Archanes formula. Whether every motif on a seal face is writing is the main open question about the corpus. The seals are catalogued in CHIC S 180 to 314, in the CMS seal corpus and in the DBAS-CHS database.
